9/1/2003 - Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), the official grading service of the American Numismatic Association (ANA), has confirmed the authenticity of the 1913 Liberty Head nickel that was rediscovered at the ANA convention in Baltimore this summer after being out of sight for more than 40 years.

9/1/2003 - "Cherrypicking" is the term applied by collectors to the hunt for scarce and rare coins that can be purchased at the price of common items. My favorite cherrypick has long been the Large S mintmark varieties unique to 1928.

The question is posted during the day; times vary from week to week. The first person to correctly answer wins a prize. We also draw from the remaining correct answers for a runner-up prize. But the growing popularity of this service is requiring more handling at our end, so a small increase in fee is inevitable.

7/1/2003 - Starting July 1, you’ll notice some changes in the NGC label and hologram. The border of the new label has a more modern look with the NGC logo and web address. Another change to the label will be found on the line where the grade appears. The grade will appear in bold print.
